SHIP MODEL: AMSV-17T Frigate, Human Design
NAME: GRYPHON
REGISTRY NUMBER: TFG-L-252151
SPECIFICATIONS:
Cargo Capacity: 210 metric tons
Crew: 12 max., 3 skeleton
Warp Capability: Cruise, Warp 6.8
Emergency, Warp 9.2
Sub light Capability: Pretty Good
Power Source: Sustained Matter/Anti-Matter Reactor
Offensive Capability: Main Phaser array covers a 270 degree
sphere around the front of the ship. One secondary phaser covers the top
of the ship, and another covers the bottom. The secondary phasers are
mainly for point defense, but can also be used against light craft
(shuttles and small fighters). One forward facing torpedo launcher
amidships. One fighting pinnace and several powered space suits for
close hostile action against other ships.
Defensive Capability: Shields. Circuit breaker (so a direct hit
to the shields doesn't blow up a panel on the bridge and kill someone).
Tractor beams. Standard Electronic Countermeasures. Main deflector dish.
Industrial inertial compensators spec'd for a much larger ship gives
added agility and maneuverability at sub light speeds.
SHIP LAYOUT:
FORE TOP DECK: Bridge, briefing room.
AFT TOP DECK: Weapons Room, Transporter room, Shuttle bay.
MAIN DECK: Mess hall/break room, Captain's Cabin, Exercise room, Hallway, Crew quarters, Medical bay, Engineering
SPAR DECK: Engineering (it's a two deck room), Small Cargo Bay
WINGS: Jeffrey's tubes and crawl spaces
Details: The Gryphon was designed as a convoy support vessel. It's
maneuverability compliments it's weapon layout for maximum efficiency.
Although the Gryphon was not intended for long term deep space missions,
it has two replicators located in the Mess Hall and comfortable crew
quarters, Allowing for patrols or escort missions to last several
months.
The ship has a sleek design with federation overtones. It's bow
area is slightly saucer shaped, similar to many federation vessels operating
today. The Bridge is located on the forward top of the ship. A stairwell
links it and the briefing room to the lower decks. The Captain's cabin
is located one deck below the bridge, so he can easily be present in
emergencies. Aside from the Captain's cabin the main deck holds the mess
hall and an exercise room, also located below the bridge and briefing
room.
A hallway connects the forward rooms of the main deck to the after
part of the ship, which includes the Crew's quarters, Medical bay, and
the upper deck of engineering. The crew's quarters are split into two
types, doubles and singles. There are three good sized single cabins,
along the starboard side of the hall, with the medbay on the port. Next
comes four double cabins, two on each side, slightly larger than the
singles. There are staircases amidships that lead up to the Aft Top
Deck, and down to the Spar Deck. The Spar deck can also be reached
through engineering. The medical bay is capable of treating eight
patients at a time, ten under emergency conditions. Main engineering is
located in the very back of the ship, as far from the bridge as
possible. The warp core extends downwards into a secondary Engineering
Deck. Engineering also contains access points to the crawl spaces and
jeffrey's tubes that run inside of the wings.
The Aft Top Deck has a small weapons room containing secondary control
for the ships weapon systems, and storage for sidearms, rifles, and
other weapons. The transporter room is made up of two transporter
modules capable of holding four people each, five if cramped, a control
station, and heavy force field projectors. The transporter room is
equipped with an emergency air evacuation system capable of bringing the
room to zero atmosphere in a matter of seconds. For this reason it is
suggested that the transporter operator be suited while operating during
emergency situations. Aft of the transporter room is a small shuttle bay
which extends almost to the end of the ship. It regularly holds one
fighting pinnace, and four powered space suits.
The Spar deck is a continuation of the engineering section and also
contains the ship's cargo bay.
The Fighting pinnace is made up of a cockpit and a small troop
compartment. It is a highly maneuverable craft with limited warp
capabilities. The cockpit holds a pilot and two passengers. The troop
area can hold six personnel or five in space suits. The pinnace is armed
with a high strength short range tractor beam. Also equipped on the
pinnace is a Shield disrupter, and a short range gamma pumped laser.
The Gamma Laser is intended for use in opening a target ship's hull.
Its' short range makes it not very useful as an offensive weapon it's
more a tool for gaining access to ships. The shield disrupter is
a dangerous tool, which allows the pinnace to penetrate a target ship's
shields, but negates the defensive power of it's own shields while
activated. The troop area has two entrances, one rear airlock for
regular loading and unloading, and an airlock built into the floor for
hostile boarding actions. Included in the ship's offensive arsenal is a
combat computer, solely devoted to conquering hostile command and
control systems. This ship, when used in conjunction with the frigate
and it's compliment of powered space suits, becomes an effective tool in
the fight to protect merchant shipping from hostile forces.
HISTORY: The GRYPHON is a new ship. It was commissioned with the moneys
gained in a courtroom battle between Jonathan Riley and a development
company. Jonathan originally intended to hire a crew and captain to
operate the ship for him, but once he walked the decks he longed to feel
the comfort of the captain's chair once again. Running through the
systems on the soon to be finished ship, he made his decision. After
putting his planetside affairs in order, he set out to ready a crew for
his ship in time for its' completion.
